Krishak Bakri Palan Yojana is a welfare scheme launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Himachal Pradesh, to promote goat farming among economically weaker families. The scheme provides a 60% subsidy on selected goat units, helping small and marginal farmers, landless labourers, and other eligible beneficiaries generate sustainable income while supporting meat production in the state.

Krishak Bakri Palan Yojana is an initiative of the Himachal Pradesh Government designed to encourage goat farming as a source of self-employment and rural income. Goat rearing has traditionally been an important livelihood activity for small farmers, nomadic communities, and landless labourers due to its low investment requirements and adaptability to different climatic conditions. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive goat units consisting of approved breeds such as Beetal, Sirohi, Jamunapari, and White Himalayan with a subsidy of 60%. Different unit sizes are available, including 11-goat, 5-goat, and 3-goat units, enabling applicants to choose an option that best suits their farming capacity. The scheme also seeks to strengthen livestock-based livelihoods, improve rural incomes, and increase goat meat production across Himachal Pradesh through scientific goat farming practices. ✅ Eligibility

Must be a resident of Himachal Pradesh. Farmers from General, SC, ST, BPL, Women, and Landless categories are eligible. Training or awareness in goat husbandry is mandatory before receiving benefits. Preference is given to unemployed applicants, especially SC, ST, women, and economically weaker families. Annual family income should not exceed ₹2 lakh. Preference is given to applicants whose families do not have a government employee. Applicants who have constructed goat sheds, including those built under MGNREGA, are given preference. At least 30% of the beneficiaries under the scheme should be women.
